Employment

Middle Way House encourages applications from a broad spectrum of individuals. At present its staff is diverse with respect to ethnicity, age, formal education attainment, and work history.

There are no acknowledged set of certifications for the work we do. We have staff members who have completed high school and staff members who have earned PhDs. For the most part, staff members have come up through the volunteer ranks, where the training the agency provided, combined with the experience they gained on-the-job, made them the best candidates for professional openings.

Requirements are: the ability to work with a diverse population, flexibility, resourcefulness, a bottomless well of compassion, excellent communication skills, understanding of the empowerment model and the willingness and ability to let people make decisions about their own lives, the capacity to remain hopeful while maintaining a critical perspective of the context in which we and our clients operate.

In addition, each position will have specific skill needs associated with it. Spanish fluency would be an asset for any staff position.

Applicants should forward a resume and cover letter and furnish references to Middle Way House, Inc., P.O. Box 95, Bloomington, IN 47402.
