Mentoring
Middle Way House’s Youth Empowerment Programs include facilitated mentoring relationships. Matches between youths, 5-18 year old boys and girls, and community members interested in volunteering, help young people who have been exposed to domestic violence overcome the deficits that have accrued and reach their full potential. Mentors are asked to commit to an average of 3 hours a week for at least a year. (During summer, spring, and winter breaks Mentors are expected to maintain contact with mentees by mail or telephone.)
The experience of being a mentor is a rewarding opportunity to make a difference in the life of a young person. You are in a position to help your match develop social and academic skills and, most importantly, have fun in a safe, responsible environment.
Mentors must be 18 years or older. Once qualified, mentors will be expected to complete an 8-hour pre-service training program, an orientation and additional, mentor-specific training. To become a mentor just fill out the form below and mail it to: Middle Way House, P.O. Box 95, Bloomington, IN 47402. Or email the application to:
Someone at our program will get in touch with you for an interview.
